Certificate Program – Methods and Ethics in Migration Research II

May 26-28, 2018 Mersin Kültürhane

Recently, the number of theses in the field of migration studies has significantly increased. Despite the growing academic interest in migration, we observe that issues that are related to the methodology are rarely discussed. The aim of “Methods and Ethics in Migration Research” certificate program that we, GAR, organized four times in 2018 is to help young scholars find appropriate devices and tools which will solve the problems they encounter in their research with migrants and refugees.

Recently, the number of theses in the field of migration studies has significantly increased. Despite the growing academic interest in migration, we observe that issues that are related to the methodology are rarely discussed. Young South Asian students are increasingly drawn to Germany by marketing promises of affordable education and high‑paying tech jobs, only to find themselves trapped in debt, exploitation, and the precarious food‑delivery sector.
