This workshop sets out to contribute to the debate on the emergence and transformation of destination spaces in Turkey. Organized in collaboration with GAR, this workshop is within the scope of the EU Horizon 2020 project, ReROOT: Arrival Infrastructures as Sites of Integration for the Newcomers (https://rerootproject.eu), for which GAR member and Sabancı University faculty member Dr. Kristen Biehl is the Turkey coordinator.
We invite all non-governmental organizations, political party representatives, and media institutions to follow the legal process. We remind the authorities, relevant ministries, and bureaucrats, who are obliged to provide an open, transparent, and traceable investigation and trial process of their responsibilities. In order to stop this trend and prevent similar massacres, crimes, and violations of human rights, we, once again, invite everyone, especially politicians and decision makers, to stand in solidarity and to fight for a life together against hatred.

On the night of August 11, 2021, we witnessed lynching, looting and attacks against Syrians in the Altındağ district of Ankara instigated by the anti-migrant and anti refugee statements and disinformation that has been circulating on social media for some time.
Recently, on social media, we have seen some news about the deportations of Syrian asylum seekers (at times en masse) for various reasons. The questions regarding the legality of this act are quite worrying on our part.
