Open Letter on Deportations

Recently, on social media, we have seen some news about the deportations of Syrian asylum seekers (at times en masse) for various reasons. The questions regarding the legality of this act are quite worrying on our part.

Recently, on social media, we have seen some news about the deportations of Syrian asylum seekers (at times en masse) for various reasons. The questions regarding the legality of this act are quite worrying on our part. We wrote an open letter to express our concern regarding the latest developments. In this letter we call for a transparent, inclusive migration policy through which an effective dialogue based on mutual trust between the public institutions, asylum seekers, bureaucrats, experts, and other relevant parties can be constructed.

You can find the Turkish and Arabic versions of our call here:

Some 45,000 Syrians are living in Denmark. Most have settled there permanently, speak Danish, and have jobs.

But the tightening of Danish immigration policies is threatening to undermine their efforts to integrate.
