The Incorporation of Syrian Healthcare Professionals in Turkey: Temporal Horizons and Partial Integration, Souad Osseiran

In her presentation, Dr. Souad Osserian will focus on a rarely studied topic: she will discuss the incorporation of Syrian healthcare professionals into Turkey’s health system. To this end, she will analyze the project, which is based on employing Syrian healthcare professionals in Migrant Healthcare Centers in Turkey. This project, which relies on the anticipation that Syrian migrants will have a more extended stay in Turkey, is a joint project by Turkish Ministry of Health and World Health Organization. Through this project, Syrian healthcare professionals will be fast incorporated into Turkey’s healthcare system while, at the same time, Turkey’s current healthcare system will gain the capacity to provide services to Syrian refugees. In this presentation which is based on 21 in-depth interviews with Syrian healthcare professionals, Dr. Osseiran will discuss the new potentialities as well as ambiguities this project brings forward.

The presentation will be in English.
