A DONKEY IN THE SHADOW
This video work by artist Umut Kambak was produced during a walk along the western coast of Imbros, between two small chapels. The piece is built around the artist’s spoken monologue and the visual field captured through his glasses. As he records his perceptions of seeing and sensing through digital devices, an unexpected encounter with a donkey standing in the shadow becomes the pivot of the work. Through this moment, Kambak transforms metaphor into a visible and audible form, allowing the ordinary to open into layers of meaning.
