We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who made EGEHUB possible.
Implemented through the partnership of GAR(Association for Migration Research), Kirte School, and the Duvarlar Bile Biliyor Initiative, the EGEHUB project was supported within the VAHA initiative, carried out jointly by Zusa and Anadolu Kültür, and funded by Stiftung Mercator and the European Cultural Foundation. This support made it possible for us to develop creative and research-based spaces in both Alçıtepe and İmbros.
Our core organizing and research team — Gülay Uğur Göksel, Mert Koçak, Ezgi Ceylan, Yiğit Türüdü, Büşra Aydagün, Besim Can Zırh and Buket Özdemir Dal — carried this project from its initial conception to its final exhibition with dedication, care, and a strong sense of collective responsibility.
We thank the scholars whose lectures and contributions enriched the intellectual framework of the project — Mert Koçak, Gülay Uğur Göksel, Gencer Özcan, and Besim Can Zırh. Their insights shaped our discussions on memory, space, and migration, strengthening EGEHUB’s conceptual foundation.
We are grateful to the artists whose works formed the core of the exhibition Who Does the Wind Open Its Door To? — Dilek Yaman, Ferhat Tunç, Meli R. Öztürk, Zelikha Z. Shoja, and Büşra Aydagün. They transformed our encounters in Alçıtepe and İmbros into diverse artistic expressions, revealing the multi-layered structure of the project. We also thank our İmbros artists — Alara Çivici, Metehan Köktürk, Alp Tuğan, and Umut Kambak — whose fieldwork deepened the research process.
Our workshops and performances were enriched through the contributions of many collaborators: Yiğit Türüdü (Material and Spatial Memory), Ezgi Ceylan (Island Kitchens, Dialogue Circles, Field Walks), the Duvarlar Bile Biliyor Collective (Kaykaki screening), Timoleon (Island music performance), Olcay Arat (Folk Dance), Uğur Manay (Rhythm Workshop), Sevgi Gültekin (Storytelling Workhop), Mert Koçak (Hauntology Workshop), Burcu Gülhan / İyi Bak Derneği (Olive Memory Workshop), Ertürk Erkek & Ezgi Adanç & Anet Sandra Açıkgöz (Body and Migration workshop and displaced performance), Udi Halil Demirel & Neyzen Cengizhan Çelikkaya & Hülya Demirel (Turkish Classical Music Recital), and the EGEHUB & Local Community Team (Pilav Gathering and Exhibition Opening).
We owe special thanks to GAR and the GAR team. We are grateful to Deniz Sert, Didem Danış, Mert Koçak, Gülay Uğur Göksel and Buket Özdemir Dal for overseeing all administrative and financial processes and ensuring the steady progression of EGEHUB. We also thank Ceren Demirel for her contributions to the project website.
We further thank Burcu Gülhan and İyi Bak Derneği, and the Alçıtepe Mukhtarlık and headman Sinan Tokgöz, whose care-oriented approach and collaboration strengthened EGEHUB’s relationship with the local community. Finally, we extend our deepest gratitude to Yılmaz pansiyon and kat1 kafe in Alçıtepe and Gajardo Garden, Khora Café, Marangoz Atölyesi in Imbroz and to the residents of Alçıtepe/Kirte and İmbros/Gökçeada. Their hospitality, guidance, and openness in sharing their stories transformed EGEHUB from an external intervention into a space of reciprocal learning and collective reflection. This project have been shaped by their generosity and trust.
